Opening
a new business is fraught with risk and expense, but
Roland and William were confident that their local
reputation as talented craftsmen and honest businessmen
would serve them well. Their confidence was well founded!
They
had their first order and a deposit before the framework
of their new boatshop was completed. They built and
delivered the vessel on time and within budget and their
happy customer proudly proclaimed the quality of his new
boat to other local fishermen. After that, they never
looked back.
Over
the years Des Champ & Jackson Boatbuilders Ltd. has
turned out wooden and fibreglass fishing boats,
sailboats, launches and cabin cruisers. All had their
usual attention to detail and carefully chosen quality
materials. And, over the years, each new boat added to
their reputation.
Boatbuilding is a tradition for the Des Champ family. Des
Champ craftsmen have been employed in the industry for
many generations. The tradition continues; Roland's son,
Roland Jr., joined the firm approximately 12 years ago.
After 47 years of experience in boatbuilding, Roland Sr.
is still enjoying the pleasure derived from turning
dreams into sound and seaworthy reality.
Roland is noted for having a warm personal relationship
with his customers and the special ability to employ his
broad technical knowledge to fulfil the customer's
specific requirements without compromising on the quality
or seaworthiness of the vessel.
Des
Champ & Jackson boats are prized and respected
throughout North America and you are cordially invited to
contact Roland to learn how you too, can boast of owning
one of their fine craft. Des Champ & Jackson boats
can be delivered anywhere in the world and are Canadian
Steam Ship Inspection and Fishermen's Loan Board
approved.
